The Comenius Association is happy to invite you to its international staff mid-week that will be held in Brussels from 21 to 23 March 2018 + optional visits 24 March

Topic : Rethinking the Classroom in times of Superdiversity : a seminar on how education plays a vital role in uniting refugees, migrants, travellers in our society.

3 Keynote speakers on integration, linguistic identity, migrants in higher education and the challenges for 2nd and 3rd generation migrants in our European educational structure develop ideas to improve socialization and integration in our diverse societies.

12 Workshops focused on ‘refugees’, ‘migrants’ and ‘integration and school success’ help us analyze what can be done in order to improve our professional competences.

09:00: Keynote Speaker Multilingualism in schools > Andrea Young, University of Strasbourg, France
11:00 to 16:30: 3 workshops concerning education and refugees, migration integration
- Friday 23/03
09:00: Keynote Speaker What should teachers know about ethnocultural diversity? The essentials > Orhan Agirdag, KU Leuven, Belgium, and University of Amsterdam, Netherlands
11:00 to 16:00: workshops (idem) and visit to intercultural Brussels and Art project
- Saturday24/03
Optional: cultural visit Brussels + House of European History

Practicalities
Target group: teachers, educators, teacher trainers, student in teacher training education and social education.
Costs: fee of 100€ including meals & organization (25€ for each evening meal & 25€ for each day of the international seminar). This fee can be covered by STT grant.
Travel costs + accommodation:in charge of the participants
Working language: english
