International training week about Stories, Book talks and Intercultural learning,

March 27th- 31st 2017

The international training week is a mixture of a Comenius short week and the IP “intensive programmes” we used to have under the Erasmus programme.. Colleagues are still welcome to join the week.

High quality education and care from a very early age creates a good foundation for lifelong learning, especially for children from disadvantaged backgrounds. Equity in educaiton is not yet realized for children from poor backgrounds, migrant families or parents with low education. The aim of this project is to strenghen the education of reflective practitioners to give toddlers (18 - 36 months of age) a fair chance fo lifelong learning.

The cooperative approach

The project brings together experienced teacher trainers from 9 partner countries to share, examine and develop different approaches to support toddlers’ learning.

The content of the project

The project will explore how language acquisition can be stimulated, especially for bilingual children. Observation tools for language and intercultural communiation will be developed and tested.

Examples of good practises on how to promote the wellbeing of toddlers will be collected. The project will examine how to involve parents in the work being done in early years settings. Preschool teacher(social educator students will be trained to link theory with practice in order to become reflective practitioners.

The main outcomes fo the project are two courses bades upon the methods, guidelines, tools and best practice developed and tested by the partners :

A European in-service course for Early Years Practitioners working in toddler settings will be launched in the Comenius catalogue ;

A course module for students in initial training for Early Childhood education and care will be embedded into the Bachelor programs of the partner institutions and offered in the national language.
